Description
We would also like to formalise a partnership with HI Burundi. The most important point of co-operation between HI and AZV is especially the to retain the referral (to Ijenda) of patients recruited at their various centres: seeing that HI is going to concentrate more and more on Community Based Rehabilitation on the periphery, there is no doubt that many patients will be seen who are eligible for surgery.
HI could possibly intervene at this point in the transport of patients with its solidarity fund.
As regards the HI mobile teams, there could also be a potential request for MWV volunteers to lead the HI teams: this might especially be the case with any request for physiotherapy.
It seems good to formalise this request by drawing up a small co-operation agreement.
In collaboration with HI, we will also set a partnership in the centre of (cf. East Congo).
Results of the missions
In anticipation of specific proposals for co-operation for the region of Burundi, we have made provisions for 2 missions in 2008 together with HI. In view of the fact that they are less active in the areas of ergotherapy and ortho-pedagogics, we will also send an ergotherapist. We can certainly foresee the possibility for MWv to expand its partnership with HI to 3 or more missions for each year programme. The partnership in Akamuri has run well and has improved constantly. If MWV were to take this as a basic model, it could be assumed that we would be able to carry out 3 missions a year in 2009 and 2010.
